What is Invisalign?

Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable and comfortable aligners to create your perfect smile. Each is custom-made with Invisalign’s 3D computer imaging technology, SmartForce®, and their unique SmartTrack® material. The technique has been proven highly effective in gently delivering straight, healthy smiles.

Our Specialist Orthodontists are Certified Platinum Elite Preferred Providers for Invisalign and registered with Invisalign Australia.

The benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign has a number of benefits over traditional braces and patients opt for this style of orthodontic treatment for a variety of reasons. They are convenient, painless and can be less time-consuming than braces depending on your unique circumstances, all while delivering you that perfect smile without being noticeable. Take a read over some of the advantages Invisalign offers:

  • The aligners are invisible so if you’re self-conscious about requiring orthodontic treatment, Invisalign may be perfect for you.
  • The plates are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. You can also remove them to play sports; great for active patients.
  • Brushing and flossing are no problem once you’ve removed your aligners, so it’s easy to maintain good oral hygiene practices.
  • They are comfortable thanks to the innovative SmartForce® technology we use to create smooth, flawless aligners.
  • There is no need for the uncomfortable and bad-tasting moulds thanks to the state-of-the art 3D technology.
  • No metal and wires means you spend less time in your orthodontist’s office getting adjustments. Generally speaking you’ll only have to visit iSmile Orthodontics every 8-12 weeks.
  • Each 3D treatment plan is customised to your teeth using Invisalign’s advanced software. This allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan, so you can see how your teeth will move over time to create your perfect smile.
  • If you lose or break an appliance, a new one can be made and delivered to the clinic so your treatment doesn’t get delayed for too long.

How to wear Invisalign

You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move, little by little, week by week, until they have straightened to the final position your orthodontist has prescribed. You’ll visit your specialist about once every 8 to 12 weeks to ensure your treatment is progressing as planned. For moderate cases, total treatment time is usually between 18 to 24 months, and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but these numbers will vary from case to case.

The process of being fitted for Invisalign is now quicker and easier than ever before. Using 3D scanners, our clinic staff will gather images of your teeth. These graphics will then be used to create a treatment plan. Invisalign’s SmartForce® technology develops a series of customised aligners which will combine to move your teeth into their desired positions. Each aligner is custom-made and crafted out of Invisalign’s own material SmartTrack®. Smoother, more comfortable and better fitting than any other aligner available on the market, Invisalign is a firm favourite amongst patients and orthodontists.

One of Invisalign’s biggest selling points is the fact that you can remove them. However, on occasion, aligners get lost or damaged when they are placed carelessly on napkins or dropped on the floor. When you choose to undergo Invisalign treatment with iSmile, we’ll replace any broken or lost aligners free of charge. Thanks to our 3D technology, a new aligner can be made quickly and easily so your treatment progress isn’t disrupted and you can be quickly back on SmartTrack® and heading towards your perfect smile.

Invisalign Lite

Invisalign Lite is an express treatment service available for mild cases, perfect for patients who may have important events coming up! We recommend booking in a consultation with one of our experienced orthodontists to assess if Invisalign Lite is a suitable option for you.

Do you want that straight smile but don’t have time to dedicate to long-term orthodontic treatment? Some mild cases can be treated in just six months using Invisalign Lite! This is perfect for our patients who have a looming deadline like a wedding or school formal and they need fast results. Everybody wants to have their perfect smile for photographs and with Invisalign Lite you can get this more quickly than any other orthodontic option.

Mild to moderate cases of the following orthodontic problems can be treated by Invisalign Lite:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Overcrowding
  • Small gaps
  • Alignment
  • Positioning

Invisalign Lite is a 14 stage treatment process. It can be performed as dual or single arch treatment, depending on the patient’s requirements. In much the same way as full length Invisalign treatments work, the patient will receive aligners uniquely moulded to their mouth, designed to gently coax their teeth into place. We use state-of-the art 3D technology and advanced materials to make customised, comfortable aligners. This 3D technology means there’s no need to sit for a long time to make moulds of your teeth. It also means the aligners can be manufactured quickly, cutting down your wait time. 14 aligners make up Invisalign Lite, changed every two to three weeks. And just like regular retainers, these Invisalign aligners are made using the similar invisible material so they’re barely noticeable and can be removed when you eat, brush your teeth and play sports.

If you’re really in a hurry, Invisalign Express can also be administered at iSmile but these sets of 5 or 10 aligners can only treat minor problems or reverse relapses. Often past patients who have not consistently worn their retainers after their braces have been removed find their teeth have shifted slightly over time and experience a ‘relapse’. This option of Invisalign treatment can help re-correct your smile prior to important events such as weddings, modelling shoots and graduation celebration.
